Man dies after being flung from vehicle near Ohakea

A 23-year-old man is dead after being flung from a vehicle in a crash early this morning.

Police said the man lost control of his vehicle while rounding a right-hand bend on Tangimoana Rd near Ohakea about 2.40am.

He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The police Serious Crash Unit was investigating the cause of the accident.

The driver's name will not be released until his family have been notified.

Police reminded road users to take regular breaks while travelling over the long weekend, and to always wear seat belts.
