One injured after car hits power pole in Auckland

One person is in serious condition after the car they were in hit a power pole in Auckland this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene of the incident, on Barrys Point Road in Takapuna, about 4.45pm.

There were two people in the car at the time, a police spokesman said.

He said one person is in serious condition as a result of the collision.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed that one person was taken to North Shore Hospital in serious condition.

Police, Fire and Ambulance attended the scene.

A Fire Service spokeswoman said Barrys Point Rd was closed between numbers 61 and 75.

There was no one still trapped in the car, she said.
