Holidaymakers heading back to the grind in the Super City have one thing to smile about tonight, for most, it's a clear run home on the roads.

Many people are due back at work tomorrow, so the roads were expected to be busy today.

But apart from "a little bit" of congestion early this evening at Warkworth for drivers heading south on State Highway 1, major thoroughfares in and out of the city were free-flowing, said Inspector Chris Tate of the police.

The Transport Agency website also showed congestion-free roads around the rest of the country.
