A car that struck a power pole cut electricity to homes in Auckland this morning.
Inspector Tony Wakelin of police northern communications said the crash occurred about 3am on Lake Rd in Devonport on the North Shore. There were no injuries.
The incident could have some impact on peak flow traffic this morning, Mr Wakelin said.
Power was cut to about 600 customers.
Vector spokeswoman Sandy Hodge said a generator was set up at 8am to restore power to 200 customers and another generator was being set up now to restore it to everyone, she said.
There was a two-hour delay before the Vector team could start work because of a road closure, Ms Hodge said.
"[The driver] has made a mess of the pole, so that's why they've been working all night."
Vector expects power to be operating normally around midday.
