Can anyone please explain why the street lights at Westgate Shopping Centre are not working? At least during this festive season the authorities should turn them on.

I needed to renew my driver's licence so I called at the office of the AA at Meadowlands. I am disabled and walk with the aid of walking sticks. I entered the winding queue expecting a 20-30 minute wait. No sooner had I lined up, I was spotted by one of the serving staff and taken aside and given the renewal forms, then I went to the front of the queue where I was processed immediately. If this is AA policy I say "well done". To Donna and her team, you turned a 30-minute chore into a 10-minute breeze. Thank you. PS I still have your pen.

Auckland Transport seems set on slowing traffic down. Surely a flashing arrow will allow right-turning traffic to move through when there's no approaching traffic rather than waiting like kids on trikes for the entire cycle to take place? Go slow, stop, go slow, stop. There just seems to be little or no synchronisation of traffic lights.

I want to extend a very big thank you to all the staff at Farmers who are so good at this time of year. They take it all in their stride, especially when I take anything back (wrong Xmas toys - thanks Pascal for making it so easy). Service with a smile in the dress/men's department, even on 50 per cent Thursdays. These people help to make the festive season more enjoyable, so I wish them all a very Merry Christmas.

My rant is to those who could take the time to sweep their part of the street footpath, so it is clear of any matter - loose stones, twigs, branches. It does not take much to cause someone to trip and fall and injure themselves. It just happened to me today.

I would like to thank the lovely staff at Bed, Bath and Beyond at the Pakuranga Plaza last week. After starting my Christmas shopping there I did more shopping and later realised I had lost my original bag from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I reported my loss to other shops but to no avail. The next day I returned to Bed, Bath and Beyond to enquire if my purchases had been handed in. No, they hadn't but the lovely lady in charge who recognised me asked me what I had bought and put them all in a bag and said "Merry Christmas" and there was no extra cost.
