The woman spoken to by police after a 20-year-old man was critically injured by a car in Tokoroa, has been charged with assault with a weapon.
The Putaruru man was injured on Cramond Street at midday on Saturday.
The Hamilton-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter retrieved the man from Tokoroa Hospital at 1pm and flew him to Waikato Hospital.
Police began speaking to a 32-year-old woman immediately after the incident. She was arrested and charged some time overnight.
Waikato Hospital said the man's condition remained critical and he is being held in the ICU.
Bay of Plenty Police communications manager Kim Perks said the woman will appear in Tokoroa District Court on Monday. Ms Perks said the attacker and victim were known to each other and no one else is sought in connection with the incident.
