Central Districts jockey David Walker will know his fate this morning on serious betting charges and not allowing a horse to run on its merits.
The 38-year-old has pleaded guilty to placing head-to-head bets against his mounts Watch Your Man at Awapuni on August 16 and Lil Mer at Waverley on July 31, but he denied charges of not riding out both horses.
He faced a judicial hearing at Trentham Racecourse yesterday on the charges brought by the Racing Integrity Unit.
Walker, who represented himself, was found guilty of not riding Watch Your Man on its merits, but the charge relating to Lil Mer was dismissed.
"It doesn't matter whether I get six months or six years, if I have to find something else to do for six months more likely than not I'll enjoy it more than being a jockey," Walker said.
