Former lawyer Davina Murray's appeal against her conviction and sentence for smuggling contraband to a prisoner has been dismissed.
Murray was convicted and sentenced to 50 hours community work for smuggling an iPhone, cigarettes and a lighter to her client Liam Reid in Mt Eden Prison.
She had defended the charges, and when found guilty unsuccessfully sought a discharge without conviction.
In her appeal, Murray argued her offending was not as serious as other cases in which the court had granted a discharge without conviction.
She compared her case to another in which the offender suffered from a medical condition which affected her behaviour.
