Man airlifted after fall while tramping

A 71-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital after injuring himself while tramping.

The Tauranga-based TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to Mayor Island about 11am today. Pilot Todd Dunham said the man had slipped while tramping and cut his leg.

The man was flown to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.
