The road through the Haast Pass has reopened but restrictions are still in place.
State Highway 6 between Otago and the West Coast had been closed for nearly two weeks because of heavy weather.
The New Zealand Transport Agency says the road will be open during the day, but closed from 6.00PM until 8.00AM each day until further notice.
