Man who drowned in an Auckland stream named

Police have named the man who drowned in an Auckland stream last week.

He was 78-year-old Jimmy Wang Liyu of Ranui.

Mr Liyu's body was pulled from the Huruhuru Stream in Henderson about 4pm on Friday.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, police said.

Police and Mr Liyu's family thanked local residents who acted quickly in reporting the incident, enabling the prompt recovery of his body.
