Auckland's troubled transport smart-card rollout is to gain $2 million of extra council funding - pushing total investment including Government subsidies to $100 million.

The council's finance and strategy committee yesterday accepted a recommendation from Mayor Len Brown to limit its extra allocation to that amount, rather than to provide about $9 million sought by Auckland Transport to accelerate an extension of the Hop card - now in use on trains and ferries - to the Super City's various bus operators.
