The parents of a toddler found disoriented and wandering in Tokoroa late last night have been found.

The boy, thought to be about two, was first seen by a member of the public in the Carrington Crescent area of the town about 9.30pm.

At 11pm the person saw the boy again in the same place and contacted police, who collected him.

The little boy was cold, upset and seemed disorientated, police said.

He was being looked after by Child Youth and Family workers when his parents were found this morning.

The boy is in the process of being reunited with his mother and police are working to establish under what circumstances he left the family home.

It's the second toddler to be found wandering the streets in two days, after a four-year-old boy was found by a member of the public on Lake Road on Auckland's North Shore about 4am.

He was taken to the North Shore Policing Centre in Mairangi Bay before Child Youth and Family collected him about 7am.

Police said the little boy had been staying overnight at a relative's home when he wandered from the property while they slept.
