Stress, depression problems for rural women

Financial stress and family fights are emerging as major causes of depression among rural women.

Early results from Rural Women New Zealand's "Feeling Rotten" survey have revealed troubles at home are the primary source of stress.

Women have reported financial worries and a feeling of being overwhelmed.

But the survey shows they are turning to counsellors and friends for help.

Rural Women's Noeline Holt says the fact women are seeking help is a sign mental health is being taken seriously.
