Whangarei police are investigating three incidents where a man acted suspiciously towards children.
The first incident saw a man drag a 12-year-old girl into a bush while she was walking to school.
The girl managed to defend herself and run off.
A few days later, a boy, nine, and girl, 10, noticed they were being followed along Sherwood Rd in Onehari. When they began to run, the man ran after them and left only when the
children hid in a nearby house.
Later that day, a man approached a 14-year-old girl in Tikipunga and asked her to get into his car but left after she refused.
The man has been described as caucasian, in his 30s with short black hair. In the Tikipunga incident he was seen driving a black Mazda four door sedan.
Police are urging the public to be vigilant, particularly in the Onehari and Tikipunga areas.
