A woman who attacked her neighbour with a hammer and killed her has been sentenced to life in the High Court at Hamilton today.
Christine Judith Morris will not be eligible for parole for 10 years after being sentenced for the murder of Diane Elizabeth White at her Blackburn St, Frankton home on January 20, 2010.
Morris was an occasional patient at the Henry Rongomau Bennett centre, a mental health facility, at the time of the attack and has a borderline personality disorder.
The 42-year-old - who is deaf and appeared in court with the help of a sign-language interpreter - was also ordered to stay in a hospital as a special patient under the Mentally Impaired Persons Act.
The woman has a two-year-old child in the custody of Child, Youth and Family.
