The death of an elderly rest home resident - who died after being thrown off his feet by Monday's earthquake - is being put down to medical reasons.
The 88-year-old resident of Christchurch's Resthaven Rest Home fell and was knocked unconscious when the 6.3 magnitude quake struck on Monday afternoon.
The man seemed to recover but died at 4.30am on Tuesday. Police said the man had a number of health issues.
