The Hikurangi Stags will be seeking vengeance as they vie for the 2015 Rugby League Northland (RLN) Premiership title against Takahiwai tomorrow.
Forced to settle for second after losing the 2014 grand final in a clutch match versus the Otangarei Knights, Hikurangi's Joe Rau said his team definitely wanted to go one better.
"The confidence and morale is pretty good. We've got a lot of boys retiring, including myself, maybe, and we just want to go out on our terms. If we're playing next year, it's probably because the result didn't go too well for us."
Striding into this weekend's grand final after an ugly 28-20 win over the Hokianga Pioneers last Saturday, Rau said his team were intent on laying the memories of that clash to rest.
"We just want to play better football than we did last week," Rau said.
