The dunnies at one of Northland's scenic coastal parks are now befitting of their spectacular setting.
The public toilets at the Department of Conservation-run Mimiwhangata Coastal Park, north east of Whangarei, have received a new coat of paint thanks to 11 DoC 'Volunteer Wednesday' painters and Dulux.
The volunteers spent a day painting the toilets - in a shade called Karaka - in preparation for the busy spring and summer stream of visitors.
The paint company has partnered with DoC since 2013 to supply paint and woodcare products for staff and community groups to paint and protect huts and other structures, like toilets.
"The toilets were in need of a good coat of paint and this will keep them looking good for a few years to come.
