The Northland Regional Council will tender for a real estate agent to sell the old Countdown building in Regent that has been vacant for nearly three years.
The building has been vacant since June 2014 when former tenant Countdown, previously Woolworths, moved to Regent after 26 years at the site.
NRC spokesman Phil Heatley said the council did not formally put the property on the market in the last 18 months due to roading improvements at the Kensington Ave/Kamo Rd intersection.
After the road works finished early this year, the NRC about one month ago advertised for tenders on the Government Electronic Tenders' Service (GETS) for real estate companies throughout the country to market the building.
Mr Heatley said tenders have closed but the successful real estate agent was yet to be named.
