A former Whangarei woman with the same name as a sex offender is receiving unwanted Facebook attention.
Amanda Campbell, 38, of Auckland, shares the same name as Amanda Campbell, 39, of Whangarei, who last week was remanded in custody after she was found guilty of a sex offence involving aboy aged under 16.
The Auckland-based Amanda Campbell is originally from Whangarei, and at 38, only a year younger than the Amanda Campbell who appeared in court last week.
"On paper, we are almost identical".
And on Facebook, where Ms Campbell has been receiving "friend" requests from men who have searched her name after learning of Campbell's conviction.
Married with children, Ms Campbell said she had no association with the other Amanda Campbell, and had never had anything to do with the court system.
After two days, she had received 12 or 13 random friend requests from men she did not know, and wanted to let people know they had the wrong Amanda Campbell.
