Work on two major roading projects at both ends of Whangarei's Kensington Ave starts tomorrow, with a number of traffic restrictions in place.
From tomorrow, access to and from Kensington Ave from State Highway 1 will be temporarily restricted to left-in and left-out turning movements. Drivers will be unable to turn right out of Manse St, which will be controlled using temporary traffic lights.
These changes will remain in place until September 2016, when the New Zealand Transport Agency will have completed a new roundabout at the intersection of Kensington Ave and SH1.
Meanwhile, from the end of February, drivers will not be able to turn right into Kensington Ave or turn right into Nixon St from Kamo Rd, with detours in place.
These diversions will be in place until December, while Whangarei District Council builds a new signalised intersection and competes the four-laning of Nixon St.
