Chamber chief executive Tony Collins said the awards "were a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the success of many Northland businesses".
"These enterprises were of varying size and often very different in structure and scale. The one thing they all had in common was their passion for what they were doing and their commitment to succeed."
Proving that size doesn't matter was Springboard IT, which won the Henderson Reeves Connell Rishworth Excellence in Business Small Business Award.
Maungatapere orchard Onyx Capital scooped the Vodafone NZ Excellence in Business Large Business Award, wowing judges with its company training focus and ability to offer permanent employment, despite having a seasonal industry.
Meanwhile, The Papermill Charitable Trust had a double whammy, taking out the Top Energy Best Not-For-Profit Organisation Award and being joint winner of the Northland Regional Council Sustainable Business Award with the Grinning Gecko Cheese Company.
Dawn Dutton Photography was well in the frame last night too, named Creative Northland Excellence in Arts Business winner and More FM Customers' Choice Service Provider.
Another slice of success was shared by Kiwi Cake Supplies, with the Northland INC Judges Commendation Award, while KiwiYo had the sweet glory of being named More FM Customers' Choice Retail Provider.
Waipoua Lodge (Kanale Group Ltd) took out the Konica Minolta Excellence in Business Owner/Operator category, with the audience also learning that the lodge was 1 of only 2 NZ hotels to be named by internationally renowned travel guide Fodor's in its global 2014 top 100 awards.
Former Northern Advocate columnist Carolyn Davis's child care business Baby Steps - co-owned with her husband Mike - won the Business Coaching New Zealand Best Emerging Business Award.
The NZME. Business Hall of Fame inductee this year was Wayne Cowley, in recognition of his contribution to Northland business.
