The trial of a Northland teacher charged with assaulting a pregnant woman during a sports event will get under way in the Whangarei District Court next Thursday.

The accused woman, who has interim name suppression, has pleaded not guilty and elected a jury trial. She first appeared in the Whangarei District Court in March on a charge of injuring with intent to injure.

Her trial will start on June 19.
