A bucket full of crispy takeaway pieces from deep-frying vats at a Kamo takeaway bar spontaneously combusted.
Fortunately the fire melted a plastic water pipe, which prevented the blaze from getting any bigger.
Fire safety investigator Craig Bain said the fire created smoke, which activated an alarm that was noticed by a passing security guard just after midnight on Friday.
Mr Bain said the owners normally placed the bucket outside but on this occasion had left it inside.
He said said the hot oil and scraps had been piled up and generated enough heat for it to combust. "It's essential these buckets and scraps are stored outside at night, away from combustible materials."
