Whangarei SPCA has followed the footsteps of Auckland and Wellington with a new online Trade Me store.
It's a joint project between the branch's team leader Andrea Honeybun, promotions coordinator Sue McDonald and foster coordinator Tracy Thomas.
"We are constantly looking for more ways to get money coming in as donations have dropped and there's a greater call for our services," Ms McDonald said.
The store, which includes the listings of hampers, items donated by supporters and new offerings from the Whangarei SPCA opshop, has had two sales so far.
Ms Honeybun said the online store gets a wider audience: "I could sell one of our T-shirts to someone in Dunedin."
The site currently has 12 listings, with accommodation packages currently in the pipeline.
"Watch this space," Ms McDonald said. "And if anyone would care to make a donation please do." Any donations from businesses would show their logo on the auction.
"And all the money goes to the animals at Whangarei," Ms McDonald added.
The branch is also looking at selling the Entertainment Book - which offers discounts for food and entertainment venues, including Whangarei.
