Three Kiwis will be getting an extra special Christmas present this year - a limited edition C 63 AMG Black Series coupe.
The $322,000 car doesn't arrive in New Zealand until April, but has already sold out. The 6.3 litre V8 develops 380kW of power and 620Nm of torque, which will produce a 0-100km/h time of 4.2sec.
Australasia's allotted 32 vehicles were up, as were the three available for New Zealand. But the popularity of the special coupe doesn't surprise Richard Emery, Mercedes-Benz sales general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
"I can't say I'm surprised but we're certainly overwhelmed by the quick response," he said.
"We'll continue to work with AMG to secure more vehicles as, not only have we sold out of our C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series allocation, but we now have a wait list.
"At this stage we don't know how many more we can secure, but I know the number of additional vehicles won't be high due to global demand."
Each C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series vehicle bound for Australia and New Zealand will come with a personalised certificate of authenticity, as well as a letter of provenance, signed by Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific, verifying the limited-edition status of this vehicle.
The CLK 63 AMG Black Series went on sale in the first quarter of 2008 for $392,000.
Thirty-two of those went to Australia and eight to New Zealand.
