More than a billion dollars a year are spent on car ads. Here are some of the best.


Toyota picked a winner with the talking dog, summing up what all of us think when things don't go according to plan.

By putting together a catchy jingle, children and fun roads to drive on, Mazda had the perfect combination to bring a smile to anyone's face.


The Honda Accord epic sparked a lot of chat about whether it was real or not. Apparently it took three months to film, cost more than $6 million, and took 600-plus takes to get right.

Convincing us that a Toyota RAV4 can cause such domestic mayhem that it made the film Mr and Mrs Smith seem like a minor tiff was brilliant.


This ad for the Citroen C4 was what every other car wanted to be. It made a whole heap of people go out and buy a not-so-good-looking car.
