Lorde has expressed her support for a lunch delivery programme that helps our most vulnerable Kiwi kids.
The singer, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, posted an image on Instagram of lunches from Eat My Lunch - a service run by top chef Michael Meredith and Mt Eden couple Lisa King and Iaan Buchanan.
For every lunch ordered through Eat My Lunch, another is provided for a child in New Zealand who can't afford their own.
"A really appalling 1 in 4 kids are living in poverty, and going to school without lunch," the singer wrote on Instagram.
"It makes me wanna cry thinking about kids who can't eat at school, and therefore probably find it pretty tough to focus and learn too."
Lorde said she had had contacted the service to ask: "I travel too much to eat a lunch, but how can I GIVE TWO instead?" and was told they were just about to offer the option to donate two lunches instead.
"Even if it's $10 a week, that's 2 less coffees (or one less cold pressed juice, jesus!!) and two kids get to eat lunch. it's a no brainer, really," she said.
"This week, I'm sponsoring Te Papapa school in Onehunga for all the lunches that they need, and I've also subscribed to GIVE TWO as their first subscriber."
A 'Give Two' lunch costs $10 and provides lunches for two Kiwi kids in need. The standard service, also $10, pays for a lunch to be delivered to your school or workplace, with a second meal delivered to a child in need.
Michael Meredith, who also runs Meredith's Restaurant on Dominion Road, was named Auckland's top chef in the annual Lewisham Awards in June.
