This week it's all about the America's Cup. Auckland's harbourside has been heating up with early morning breakfast screenings. We sent Style File finders and gents about town (pictured above l-r) Ricardo Simich and Andy Pickering out and about to find the best early birds. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
Street Style: This week we've been style spotting early birds attending America's Cup spectators breakfasts around Auckland's harbourside. Fresh faced but bleary-eyed punters were sometimes surprised to find themselves having their picture taken before 8am - we bumped in to dames were still waiting for their hair to dry. Nautical looks were few and far between (unfortunately). Most stylish folk were dressed for work following the racing. We were surprised that star chef Simon Gault was the only chap we could find in red socks. Because of this he's been picked as our best dressed in this sailing special.
Hot and Not
Best Dressed
Kiwi chef Simon Gault was his usual charming, garrulous self at Euro as he hosted an early morning breakfast screening of the America's Cup. When Oracle comfortably won the first race, the vibe at his Auckland eatery darkened. Taking matters in to his own hands, Simon served bloody Marys, champagne, and pairs of red socks. The mood lifted, and Team NZ went on to win a nail-baiting second race. For services to the country, we anoint sassy sock-wearing Simon our best dressed this week. He wears a Prada sports jacket, Working Style shirt, RAW jeans, Louis Vuitton shoes and Peter Blake's famous red socks.
Worst Dressed
The divine Petra Bagust usually looks flawless. However, we think back to one memorable occasion early in her stint as host on TV1's Breakfast. The style team got it wrong going goth on Petra with a black ensemble, dark red lipstick and heavy eye makeup. She was described at the time as looking like "she'd been dragged backwards by the hair through a French Bordello." Unfortunately for Petra, when we bumped into her at an LG event at TVNZ recently, she started throwing her limbs around, reminding us of her past transgression. Petra wears a Kate Sylvester dress with a Marc Jacobs bag.
