Waiopehu College student Liam McLeavey is over the moon at winning the Student Leader of the Year award from Crimson Education last week.
He also won the People's Choice Award by a landslide. Liam is co-founder of Pathways Horowhenua, Horowhenua Youth Council chair, College board student trustee and won a district council civic award.
"It was great to finally meet Dr Sandra Hastie, who interviewed for these awards as well as the co-founder of Crimson Education, Shandre Kushor."
Crimson Education is an Australian organisation that helps Australian and New Zealand students get into prestigious British and American universities. It is the first time it has held these awards.
Liam received a trophy for Student Leader of the Year and $1000 for the People's Choice Award.
