The public will be able to have their close-up look at the new Napier station tomorrow between 10am and 4pm and experience what Inspector Tania Kura described as "the old and the new".
People will be able to see the old building interior as well as the new one.
During a brief tour of the new station before the official opening yesterday she said in was inevitable some staff would not take to their new surroundings, but said it came down to a time issue - the longer they worked there the more they would adapt to it.
She described the design of the open and well-lit station as "this is our thoughts - this is what we wanted" and part of that was to create "excellent" conditions which would continue the excellent work.
Apart from the victim interview rooms, a specialised room for groups which work in with police, staff welfare rooms, a blood unit to work with drink-drivers, a gym area and lockers and smoko room (which leads to a wooden decking) it is effectively open plan.
