Amy Martin "thought of nothing else" but beating her demons at this month's BMX World Championships.
Crashing in the quarter-final at last year's event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and breaking a collar bone this January in Australia, only made the young rider more determined to reach her goal.
"I have thought of nothing else but coming back strong this worlds, giving it 100 per cent and hopefully coming home with some great results," she told Hawke's Bay Today from Switzerland.
The 16-year-old local rider is ranked No1 in New Zealand for her age group, and jetted off to Europe this week where she will take on 16 girls from across the globe in Zolder, Belgium.
She said it was a dream to represent her country and was always a proud moment donning national team colours for all the world to see.
