After 10 years in the making, two NZ on Air grants and a number of management changes, Hamilton band Sound the Ocean is finally ready to launch their debut album, Wait for the Morning.
However, determined not to follow the standard format, the band has decided upon a very novel launch.
To be held at Zeal, Ward Lane, on October 9 from 8pm, the album will be given away for free, there will be an accompanying art exhibition, and even more bizarrely, it will be the band's final gig.
Guitarist and singer Nick Kraenzlin said the launch had been set back several times and with a number of the band members starting families it was a logical time to call it quits.
The art was commissioned from artists from around the world. Each was sent the album and asked to pick a song to illustrate in whatever manner they wanted.
