The season of good will is upon us, and the Adventist Churches in Hamilton has got into the spirit of giving by handing out food parcels in identified areas of need throughout Hamilton.
Andrew Hopkins, 35, of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) said he and a large group of volunteers spent the afternoon delivering food parcels door to door in Melville and Enderley on Saturday.
"We were handing out food gifts for people in need. We went to a house to give a gift and they were having a birthday party and they gave us a plate so then we have some extra stuff to give away. Some of it is our own gift and some of it has been donated to the church. Quite a bit of it is from Sanitarium, they're connected with our church somehow," said Hopkins.
The bags, filled with cereal, canned food, bottled water, sugar, and other items were delivered door to door by around 60 volunteers, with the youngest being just five years old.
"Lots of families get together to help. Instead of meeting at church this month, we are just doing practical ministry, handing out gifts. And this involves all the churches under the Thrive network," he said.
