The future of Hamilton City libraries looks modern, as Hamilton City Council puts a draft strategic libraries plan out for public consultation.
The draft plan has been created over several months and incorporates library trends from around the world.
The plan has been prepared by a working group of council staff, councillors, a libraries industry expert, a member of the Friends of the Library group, plus representatives from the Elder Persons Advisory Panel and Youth Council Advisory Panel.
Working group chairman councillor Andrew King said the plan could see the city's libraries transformed into community hubs of creativity, literacy and learning.
"As technology develops, so does the nature and scope of libraries: they're increasingly acting as community knowledge and learning hubs, and focal points for urban and community rejuvenation."
