I tried this when it first came out a couple of years and didn't think much of it. However, I've had a couple weeks off the plonk so perhaps my rejuvenated taste buds took a liking to it? Either way, given my palate's clear indecision, it's worth trying Mac's Green Beret IPA.
I liked it because it was hoppy and bitter, just like an IPA should be. I gave a bit to some friends to try and while one thought it was "all right" another wasn't into it. She thought it was too hoppy.
"It's a bit spikey at the end, there's too many hops."
That surprised me because she drinks a bit of beer. I like IPAs so the hops don't bother me. Guess it depends what you're into.
I didn't find it too overpowering and liked the balance of bitterness and hops, so felt like I could have had a few. Perhaps next time.
