Ubisoft has unveiled a new developer's diary for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag that looks at naval navigation and combat, while also revealing the massive scope of their upcoming open-world adventure.

Game director Ashraf Ismail provides the commentary for the latest clip that opens with the game's new protagonist Edward Kenway setting sail aboard his ship, The Jackdaw, on a perilous voyage to Havana.

From Kingston to Nassau, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag allows players to explore more than 50 unique locations and become one of the most feared pirates in the West Indies, reliving the events that defined the Golden Age of Piracy.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U on October 31 - the game is also being developed for Xbox One and PS4.
