Hayden, 25, knows he is nearing the end of his life.
The young man is in the final stages of a battle with heart failure.
Last Tuesday, his mother Diane Burge found out the terrible news that her son did not have very long to live.
What followed were hours of very intense emotions.
On Tuesday night, unaware that her son's hero, WWE star John Cena, was in her hometown in Sydney, Burge watched the moment Hayden's son wish of meeting Cena was granted.
The mother originally posted a plea on Facebook for "just 5 minutes" of FaceTime for her son and his hero John Cena.
Cena was, however, unavailable to FaceTime as he was busy at a special screening of his film Ferdinand in Sydney, of all places. The best part? Hayden was invited.
"He was so excited! I could just tell John knew who we were, because he started looking at us, and so I started crying and Hayden started crying," she told the Daily Mail Australia.
At the end of the screening, a representative for Cena approached Diane and said: "John's heard about your post and we're fully aware of it, we've heard about it from different avenues.
"John's aware, and he's going to make a point to talk to Hayden tonight."
Burge continued: "And then he finally got to talk to him!"
The mum recalled the moment her dying son got to meet his hero.
"There's no words, really to describe what it did mean to me, because I always fix things but I can't fix what's happening to Hayden now," she said.
"And so, for John Cena doing that for me, was enabling me to give Hayden a moment of pure joy, because he's not getting many of them now."
The mother says the moment she saw the joy in her son's eyes while meeting his idol will never leave her.
Dobbyn feels his musicality has been affected, but remains in good spirits.
