UK boyband One Direction is reportedly breaking up for good.
The foursome is said to have not renewed their recording contracts after finishing their tour in October, Us Weekly reports.
"The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers," a source said.
The report conflicts with the band's official statements that members, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, are simply on hiatus.
"Liam is really interested in songwriting and production," a second source said.
"Harry is launching a career in acting and singing."
If true, then Horan may be the only one truly taking a break from the spotlight having recently said he wanted to spend his time off travelling and backpacking across Australia.
Meanwhile Tomlinson, 24, is in Los Angeles awaiting the birth of his first child with stylist friend Briana Jungwirth.
Zayne Malik left the group in March 2015.
