Remember the live TV fail at the Miss Universe pageant?

History seemed to be repeating itself when Jamie Foxx read out the wrong winner for the best soundtrack category at today's Golden Globes ceremony.

After the nominees were presented, Foxx opened his envelope and read out the 'winner' - NWA, for the movie Straight Outta Compton, an album that wasn't nominated in that category.

"I'm sorry folks I made a mistake, it says it right here on the card," said Foxx, while the audience and Foxx's co-presenter erupted in laughter.

"I take full responsibility."

Foxx, it turns out, was mocking comedian Steve Harvey, who recently suffered a live TV fail when he read out the wrong winner at the Miss Universe pageant.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez had to give back her crown after Harvey mis-read his cue card in an incident that has been comedy gold for late night hosts and internet meme creators.

Unfortunately, Foxx gave away the correct winner - Ennio Morricone, for The Hateful Eight - during the skit as he flashed his winner's card around to TV cameras.
