Bryan Singer back for another X-Men film

Directed by Bryan Singer, who helmed this year's blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past, it will be set in the 80s, with cast members including Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and James McAvoy (Professor X) expected to return.

Aussie Hugh Jackman may also don the claws again for Wolverine.

Singer told Total Film recently that you can expect Apocalypse to turn up the heat on the franchise.

"Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon," he said.

"There's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle."

According to recent reports, X-Men: Apocalypse will also centre around the romance between Lawrence's Mystique and Michael Fassbender's Magneto.

Lawrence told IGN she's had a few conversations with people about where we'll find Mystique in the upcoming flick, set for a mid-2016 release.

"I don't really know where she's gonna go... She obviously needs to be in hiding somewhere," Lawrence said.
