Respect for each other and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations (most of the time). Being present and putting our heart on a plate every time we cooked ... Kia kaha.
What have been the highlights of your time on the show - culinary and otherwise?
Being able to showcase NZ on a plate and get our food philosophy out there to the public. To meet like-minded passionate foodies, some of which will remain lifelong friends. Also doing something for "us" - stepping outside our comfort zones to follow our dreams and being role models to our six daughters to go out there and pursue anything your heart desires ... Happiness is the key to life!
What about the low-lights?
Watching yourself on TV is pretty hard to do, and being judged by others is always a test of one's own self confidence. In saying that, we learn most from our greatest struggles and come out the other side better human beings. Definitely more resilient these days.
What have you learned from being on the show, and would you do it again?
Most of all we have learned that if we set our minds to something we are a force to be reckoned with. We have learned so much about ourselves and each other. Hey, who knows if MKR all-stars eventuates one day, you might just see these "weed-eaters" again !
If yes, is there anything you'd do differently?
We went into this competition with a promise to always be authentic, honest and stay true to ourselves and our beliefs and we have done this. We can hold our heads up high and be proud of the way we tackled the show. It was not a game to us at all it has been a truly life changing experience we will hold close to our hearts forever.

What do you think are the main factors that have got you this far?
Aaron: Heather is awesome!
Heather: We have a lot of patience and respect for each other. Aaron is beautiful when he is in his good zone.
What have been the highlights culinary and otherwise - of your time on the show?
Watching our Instant Restaurant at home with our whanau and friends. Friendships made within g2 (group two from the Instant Restaurant rounds).
Also having food industry contacts and being appreciated as one of their peers.
What about the low-lights?
Being away from our children was the hardest thing we have had to do. It was a rough ride for us with the judges not understanding our way of cooking ... you want one pizza, we give you two.
What have you learnt from being on the show, and would you do it again?
Heather: I've learnt that there are some beautiful people in this country who will take time out to give praise and help to lift my confidence.
There are some amazing home cooks in New Zealand.
When your heart and soul is invested in something, it is the most nerve-racking experience waiting for the judges' reviews.
Would we do it again? In a heartbeat. Maybe an all-stars round?!
Aaron: I've learnt that I suck at following briefs. Pacific food has locked us in to a destination.
If yes, is there anything you'd do differently?
Heather: I would have entered the competition with more confidence in myself.
Aaron: I would have brought more shoes.
