Lorde's debut album has reached number one and gone platinum in its first week on sale in New Zealand.

Pure Heroine is atop the NZ Top 40 album charts with at least 15,000 copies sold since its release last Friday.

The 16-year-old old star's The Love Club EP is also sitting at number four on the chart.

Royals, the first single from Pure Heroine, yesterday knocked off Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball on its way to to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song has risen back to number two in New Zealand following the release of Pure Heroine.

Katy Perry's Roar is number one.
