Justin Bieber fans will hear a more mature version of their favourite teen idol on his upcoming Christmas album.
That's because the 17-year-old Canadian singer has matured since his last record, with Bieber's manager confirming the news that had to come out sooner or later.
"Vocally, his balls have dropped," said Scooter Braun in an interview with Billboard magazine.
Bieber had trouble recording some of the tracks for his festive album, and his duet with Mariah Carey on her song All I Want For Christmas proved to be particularly difficult.
"That was the hardest song to do. A year ago that would have been no problem," Braun said.
Island Def Jam Music Group president Steve Bartels told Billboard: "The album really shows his growth as a young man, and his voice has just blossomed," he said.
"It will pleasantly surprise many people. It's not your typical holiday album."
Bieber's Christmas-themed record Underneath The Mistletoe also features Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men, Usher and The Band Perry, and is due out today.
