A police prosecutor who pleaded guilty to drug charges has been struck off as a lawyer.
Timothy Sarah was imprisoned for four years last year after he was convicted of charges of supplying and possessing methamphetamine, and dishonestly using the Police National Intelligence Application.
Yesterday, the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal struck Sarah off the roll of barristers and solicitors of the High Court of New Zealand.
The New Zealand Law Society brought a charge against Mr Sarah alleging that his convictions showed he was unfit to practise and brought the legal profession into disrepute. The tribunal found the charge was proven.
New Zealand Law Society President Chris Moore said there was no place in the legal profession for Sarah.
