Ten million dollars will be invested in the Parkroyal Christchurch and Parkroyal Wellington properties in the wake of their rebranding to Hotel Inter-Continental.
Bass Hotels and Resorts (BSR) today announced plans to convert the hotels to the Inter-Continental brand in July this year.
BHR chief operating officer ANZSP Tony South said: "A total of about $10 million will be invested over the properties to raise them to global Inter-Continental standards and we have great plans for the re-branded hotels beyond July.
"We have undertaken extensive studies to determine the future direction of the Inter-Continental brand. BHR is now ready to embark on a major repositioning exercise and new marketing strategy for it."
BHR is the hotel business of Bass PLC - an international hospitality and leisure group operating in hotels, leisure retailing and branded drinks.
BHR is the largest operator in the Asia Pacific region, with 168 hotels and more than 43,000 rooms.
Parkroyal Christchurch chairman Barry Thomas said today: "The combined re-branding and up-grade, further consolidates the hotels position in the city and places both the hotel and Christchurch on the world stage."
