NZME Central, the Auckland office development project by Mansons TCLM, won the top commercial property award last night .
The building in the Victoria Quarter is home to NZME Central, anchor tenant in the property which is headquarters to the Herald, GrabOne and radio stations including NewstalkZB. Other tenants are Meredith Connell, Maersk Shipping and Pernod Ricard. The new block won the top Property Council award, sponsored by Rider Levett Bucknall.
That was announced at a Vector Arena arena event where the largest number to attend the awards, about 1500 people, were gathered.
The property is between Victoria St West, Graham St and Hardinge St and two buildings are linked at levels one, two, four, and five by suspended walk bridges within a glazed atrium.
Chief judge John Dunn said he was delighted that the supreme award went to the development.
"The NZME building is an outstanding property development. Not only did it deliver an exceptional financial result for the developer, but high levels of sustainability were incorporated into the design and exemplary tenant usability and satisfaction have been achieved"
The building is being syndicated by Augusta Funds Management in one of the country's largest deals of its type, offering returns of up to 8 per cent annually.
