Ian Grogan has resigned from the board of Silver Fern Farms citing "fundamental and philosophical differences".
He would not elaborate further but his resignation comes as the nation's largest meat exporter reshapes the way it operates and prepares to raise new capital from shareholders.
It also planned a governance review which included reducing the board from its current 12 members.
A Manawatu sheep and beef farmer, Grogan was one two North Island directors.
