A cruise ship which collided with a concrete carrier on Sunday is set to visit Tauranga twice this week.
The investigation into the collision between the luxury liner Seabourn Encore and the Milburn Carrier II at Port of Timaru could take between 12 and 18 months to complete.
Nick-named the "'sexiest ship" the Sea Encore will make its first visit to the Port of Tauranga on Friday, when it is scheduled to dock at 8am and depart for Auckland at 6pm.
It makes a return visit on Sunday, arriving and sailing at the same times.
A Transport Accident Investigation Commission spokesman said investigators boarded the Seabourn Encore today at Akaroa and spoke to the captain and collected "relevant" materials.
